Cocktail Pairing: Signature Chocolate Chip
I love cookie dough because it’s a treat anyone can enjoy. Young, old, chocoholic, sweet tooth, gluten-free, and yesss even vegan. But one of my favorite things to do with cookie dough is strictly adults-only: pairing it with cocktails! I’ll share my favorite pairings here every so often starting with our best-selling flavors. Don’t forget to show me when you make them @kristentomlan.
Signature Chocolate Chip Dough with a Cinnamon Old Fashioned
Is it fate or fortune that my favorite cocktail and my best-selling dough are a perfect match? Maybe I was unknowingly creating my perfect nightcap when I stirred a heaping cup of brown sugar into my Signature Chocolate Chip cookie dough. Brown sugar and bourbon are a match made in heaven and a little zing from orange rind is all semisweet chocolate needs to become it’s very best self.
This recipe is an easy twist on the classic old fashioned cocktail. The hint of cinnamon adds just the right amount of unexpected spice to warm you up on a winter night. Plus, you get the scent of cinnamon with every sip!
Cinnamon Twisted Old Fashioned
Makes 2 Cocktails
2 cinnamon sticks
4 ounces bourbon whiskey
1/2 ounce simple syrup
4 dashes Angostura bitters
Ice (Large single cubes make for the best cocktail!)
2 large pieces of orange peel
Orange zest, slice, or peel for garnish (optional)
Place the cinnamon sticks in a pint glass. Pour bourbon over the cinnamon sticks and let infuse for at least 5 minutes. Then add the simple syrup and bitters. Stir vigorously to meld flavors.
Run a large piece of orange peel around the sides and rim of a lowball glass. Do the same with the second glass.
Pour half the cocktail over the orange peel, repeat in the second glass. Add ice and stir to chill.
Garnish with the cinnamon sticks from the pint glass. Serve and enjoy immediately with Signature Chocolate Chip cookie dough! (We deliver nationwide and you can get Signature Chocolate Chip in a 4-pack or our new Taster Pack!)
